August 2007 - BBC Radio Leicester I get around a bit these days, don't I? Anyway, a very pleasant and enjoyable chat on BBC Radio Leicester about the issue, with a sympathetic presenter. Tony Wadsworth. Anyway, I gave a gentle recap of the main points and gently lambasted our moronic enemy, before signing off. Five more minutes of fame to knock off Andy Warhol’s running total. My thanks to the team for having me on their show.
Tony Wadsworth. A rather top chap.

August 2007 - Jeremy Vine Show, BBC Radio 2 More people must listen to this than I thought, judging from the random 'get off moi radio' texts I had coming in. Anyway, just a little phone-in with a few other contributors (including a real live moron) after the launch of the Highways Agency Stapleton vid. Jeremy was pleasingly anti-moronic overall, and a random caller had far more of a brawl with the moron than I did - well done that man! Free Keep Left sticker if it was you.
Interestingly, the moron raised a classically moronic defence - that no-one should be travelling more than 70mph anyway, therefore all those who go faster are breaking the law. But it is not a moron's duty to uphold the law or obstruct those wishing to break it (that is what the police are for) and the Keep Left rule is about YOUR behaviour, not the behaviour of others. If Lane 1 is clear and there is no justifiable reason to avoid being in it, then move the feck over. Simple. Forget what others may or may not be doing and do your bit for congestion and safety by keeping left.
Jeremy Vine, hopping mad at morons, just like us.

July 2007 - Highways Agency launches 'Lane Hog' videos. Good work from the Highways Agency here: http://www.public.tv/programmes.php?PID=2292&Title=Lane+Hog
Part of a new initiative from the Highways Agency, and about time too. Well worth a look (even at 5 mins long for the extended vid) as it sums up the problem nicely. John Stapleton is the one socking it to the morons. Good work, John, and all the Highways Agency staff behind it.
John Stapleton, left, and a moron spotted by the Highways Agency, right.

May 2007 - Middlelanemorons.com on the radio. May saw an email appear in my inbox from Annabel, one of BBC Radio Northampton ’s Drivetime team (www.bbc.co.uk/northamptonshire/local_radio/drivetime/index.shtml for the curious). Apparently, she and Richard, her partner in airwave presenting-type stuff, have a real dislike for middle lane clogging moronity as well. Good on them! So they sent a wonderful chap called Willy Guilder along with a tape recorder to interview me and put my rambling monotones onto the local frequency. I didn’t umm and arrr too much, so it sort of went well, and they even introduced middlelanemorons.com as the ‘website of the century’ which was as flattering as it is untrue. But I can’t help but love them for it. Anyway, I should have recorded it all for my mum and posterity, but I didn’t. Hopefully one or two MLMs were listening and had their ears bent towards the left lane, but even if it fell on deaf ears or radios tuned to different stations, I still have the warm feeling that others out there feel passionately about the issue. So thank you Annabel, Richard and Willy.
They even managed to get some Tony Blair commentary on the issue up on their special webpage, here: http://tinyurl.com/3drv2q

April 2007 – Pass the numpty ‘pon the left hand side. Remember ‘pass the duchy to the left hand side’ by Musical Youth? No. OK, surf on. Yes? Well, have we got a treat for you. We recorded a version of the song with the collaboration of a very talented singer and one of Musical Youth’s original members, for a bit of a laugh. You can’t buy it anywhere and it’s not for commercial gain, but if you’re interested, you can listen to it here.
 Musical Youth, decades ago.
